Resonate Festival

July 26th – August 4th

Resonate 2023 (formerly Skibbereen FeelGood Festival) is the festival within a festival! Taking place as part of the Skibbereen Arts Festival

Resonate is a celebration of community, born out of a desire to create spaces for people to unite and engage with others in arts and cultural activities. The festival aims to create experiences for participants to slow down, engage with a practice and connect with place, the self and the community in a shared experience. It's all about wellbeing, creativity, community, and the Irish language!

With this goal of connection and engagement, Resonate partners and collaborates with Skibbereen-based organisations – 49 North Street and Uillinn: West Cork Arts Centre (connecting with their Arts for Health programme).

49 North Street is Skibbereen's own creative mental health space. It also runs the West Cork Feel Good Festival, which includes World Mental Health Day, throughout the month of October.

Join us for some joyful, creative and nourishing workshops – from Sean nós singing to Forest Bathing to a hike exploring a stunning area of West Cork!

In the development of his work, Ard Realt Illustrators in Bantry were invited to work on making a series of illustrations in response to these poems, sharing a creative conversation between the two communities. Working with artist Sarah Ruttle, the group in Ard Realt chose a selection of poems to inspire new artwork. ‘Poems and Pics’ is the resultant book, bringing together the contribution of some incredibly generous and creative participants. What makes us thrive?
A conversation/workshop in which we look at ourselves and our surroundings through different  lenses. What is there? What would we like to see? And how does this  connect to doughnut economics?

What if we could create large, meaningful change just by changing our own lives step by little step?
Guess what? We can. Especially if enough of us do it.
Do you ever get the feeling that "money shouldn't make the world go round"? Or, that the economy should serve the people (and the community) instead of the other way round? That it would be wonderful if all the systems that surround us were there to make us healthier, happier, and create harmony with nature?
To make us thrive in other words … That, exactly, is the idea behind doughnut economics.
And as it is increasingly clear that the world is increasingly interconnected, we have to connect what we do individually and locally with what happens (and what we want to happen) globally. Use different lenses, so to speak.

This is what we'll be doing in the workshop What makes us thrive? Look at ourselves, our needs & wants and do the same for the environments where we find ourselves. 49, North Street (where we'll meet this Tuesday 1st of August, 2-4pm) and Skibbereen, to start with. And at how we, as individuals and communities can have a positive effect on the rest of the planet and its human and non-human inhabitants.
